Adrien Morot was a monster and make-up fan from an early age. His teachers and parents suggested that he find more stable and realistic work as an adult, but at age 20, he left Montreal to pursue his dreams in Los Angeles. Since then, he has worked on more than 100 features and has traveled internationally, shooting movies in some astounding places. Battle of the Brushes
The competition is open to students of a recognized make-up school and to those who have graduated 12 months prior to the competition date. Eight competitors will be selected for each competition. Cash and/or prizes will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place winners for each competition. To qualify, you must fill out and send us the entry form, along with 8-10 photos of different looks you have done. Photos don't have to represent the make-up you plan to enter in the competition. All entries, photos and artwork become the non-returnable property of Key Publishing Group.
The character/prosthetic competition takes place on Saturday. Competitors will be given prosthetics on the day of competition, which they must incorporate into their designs. The time limit for the character competition is three hours. No outside prosthetics are allowed, only the ones supplied by IMATS. Our 2018 character/prosthetic theme is Victorian Emporium.
The beauty/fantasy competition takes place on Sunday, and the time limit is two hours. Our 2018 beauty/fantasy theme is Wildwood Warrior.

Gregory Arlt is the Director of Makeup Artistry for MAC Cosmetics based out of Los Angeles. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he has been doing makeup professionally for nearly 30 years. He started out with a major in art history and theatre, and then began his makeup career at the prestigious Los Angeles boutique Fred Segal in 1989. Gregory began working for MAC in 1993, starting out as a Technical Artist traveling throughout the L.A. region doing makeup appointments at MAC stores and counters. He then progressed to Trainer, Senior Trainer, Senior Artist, and is now the Director Of Makeup Artistry West Coast.
Arlt works with some of the most famous faces in the world including Dita Von Teese, Gwen Stefani, Angelina Jolie, Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Fran Drescher, Alicia Keys, Cher, Sienna Miller, Minnie Driver, Anne Heche, Kim Cattrall, Liza Minnelli, Susan Kelechi-Watson, and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe. Being one of the most in demand artists in Hollywood, he appears regularly as a beauty expert on TV shows such as "Access Hollywood," "Entertainment Tonight," "Extra," "CNN," "E! Entertainment Television," and "The Style Network." Gregory can be found backstage at the fashion collections in Milan, Paris, and New York, designing makeup looks for Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen, Ungaro, Michael Kors, and Chloe to name a few.
He works regularly with Gwen Stefani and was her personal makeup artist on “The Voice” for three seasons, enjoying coming up with different looks for her each week. Gregory also designed the makeup for the last three tours for Cher, creating looks for the iconic singer, her dancers, her backup singers, and the band.
In 2015 he won the prestigious Hollywood Beauty Award for “Best Makeup Artist”. He also won an Ibiza Music Video Award for “Best Makeup” for Gwen Stefani’s “Misery” video.

magazines. Tardif is also the creator of Veil Cosmetics.
Siân Richards is a single mother of two and an award-winning make-up artist. Richards has worked in every avenue that make-up demands, from editorial to special effects. She won The People’s Critics Choice Award for transforming Halle Berry in Cloud Atlas
and was Emmy and 706 Guild Award nominated for her transformation of Queen Latifah into ’30s blues icon Bessie Smith. Richards was the personal make-up artist to Chadwick Boseman on Black Panther
, Avengers: Infinity War
and others. She wrapped Avengers 4 (Untitled) this year. She also has a successful brand called Siân Richards London.
Tanya Deemer has almost two decades of experience in the fashion/beauty industry. She is a licensed celebrity make-up and hair artist whose work can be seen from the runways of New York Fashion Week to Hollywood’s big screen. She can also be seen on Extra TV and The Doctors
as a celebrity make-up and hair artist, teaching the viewers some industry tips and tricks. Deemer also serves as a global educator at such venues as IMATS and recently launched her Makeup Artistry Certification program at the South Bay LA Makeup Artistry Institute.
Thomas E. Surprenant
Thomas E. Surprenant has been a make-up artist for more than 30 years and has developed products and techniques to further the craft. He has been nominated for three Emmys and has won twice. Surprenant has also been part of two Academy Award-winning make-up crews and has received a Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild award. He has contributed to Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,
