Get Star Trek: Discovery Details Before It Airs
We are excited to announce that James MacKinnon, Hugo Villasenor and Doug Jones will all join us at IMATS Toronto!
These three talented artists will sit down with Make-Up Artist magazine’s publisher and IMATS executive producer, Michael Key, to discuss their extraordinary work on the new television series Star Trek: Discovery.
View the new five-minute trailer that recently debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and get a first-hand look at three make-up busts used in the show: two Klingons and a Saru bust. With all these exclusive and inside peeks, this panel surely will not disappoint.
MacKinnon worked as prosthetic and special make-up effects department head on the series. He is an award-winning artist (Emmys for work on Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story: Freak Show and AHS: Hotel) with 29 years of experience in all aspects of make-up, special effects and design. Past credits include Jobs, The Fate of the Furious, Furious 7, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, First Contact, Alias, Larry Crowne, CSI: NY and Stigmata.
Villasenor worked as key make-up artist on the series and has worked on numerous memorable films. His past credits include The Conjuring 2, Insidious: Chapter 2 and Bone Tomahawk.
Actor Jones has worn many iconic character looks. This former contortionist has become widely known for his roles in science fiction, fantasy and horror films. Many roles consist of heavy make-ups that leave him unrecognizable and unhuman. Credits include Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Strain, Adaptation and Falling Skies.
Don’t miss this highly anticipated panel discussion sponsored by Make-Up Artist magazine. The discussion will take place on the Open Forum stage from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27.
