Dermaflage and ‘American Beauty Star Contestant’ Andrew Velázquez Create Fun Collaboration!

Andrew Velázquez is a make-up artist and teacher at Cinema Makeup School. He was a finalist on the first season of American Beauty Star, Lifetime’s new game show where contestants compete in a series of make-up and hair challenges.

Now fasten your seatbelts IMATS enthusiasts because Dermaflage has invited Velázquez as their educator to spice things up! Velázquez will compete against students in a Correction Challenge. Think Face Off meet cooking show Beat Bobby Flay!

Student competitors were chosen through an application process where qualifications include being a student at CMS and a student that Velázquez has taught. Those two contestants are Bella Meza and Channing Carlisle. They will have 30 minutes to do a corrective make-up on models with challenging skin issues such as dark undereye circles, piercing holes, acne scaring, tattoos and redness. They will be judged right then and there.

Adamme Sosa The Beauty Warrior will officiate and the wonderful Ve Neill, Angie Davis and Kevin James Bennett will judge the competition.

A Dermaflage IMATS liason will be working with them on stage set-up and camera work. Jocelyn Atkinson, Dermaflage founder will present a ceremonious large check to the winner at the end of the program.

You won’t want to miss this high-energy make-up shoot out!

Come join the fun on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 11:15 a.m. at Hall Three Stage.
