James’ years of working on the Star Trek franchise including “Deep Space 9", "Voyager", and "Star Trek First Contact” has led him to the coveted position of Department Head of Prosthetics and Makeup Effects for "Star Trek: Discovery” (Season 1 & 2) and Department Head of Prosthetics and Makeup Design on Patrick Stuart’s new “Picard”, airing on CBS All Access. James has served as Department Head or Key Makeup Artist on over 115 projects in his career ranging from 4 films in the "Fast and the Furious" franchise, “Stigmata”, “GI Joe 2", "Priest", and “Halloween H2O”, to "Parks and Recreation", “Alias”, "CSI NY", "Providence", and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch" to name a few. He also transformed Ashton Kutcher into Steve Jobs, for the 2013 Biography, "Jobs".
James believes in always learning and growing, adding to his vast knowledge of makeup design and techniques, and honing his craft. He loves to teach up-and-coming makeup artists by sharing what he has experienced throughout his storied career.

Jane McKay
Senior make-up artist Jane McKay has had an expansive career. McKay began as an esthetician but changed course in 1989 when she was hired by M.A.C. to create and lead its global artist training division. One defining moment at M.A.C. was when co-founder Frank Toskan sent her to appear on
Oprah in his place in front of an audience of 80 million. After 10 years at M.A.C., McKay left to concentrate on her make-up artistry. Today, McKay hosts master classes, writes for various publications and designs make-up looks for photo shoots and fashion shows across international cities.
Kelseyanna Fitzpatrick
Recognizable in the make-up industry for her unexpected play on texture, color and shape, Kelseyanna Fitzpatrick approaches beauty as high art, using the face as her canvas. After completing Blanche Macdonald Centre’s Global Makeup Artistry Program, Fitzpatrick pursued a concentration in advanced special effects at Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles. She has been featured in numerous fashion publications, global campaigns and on the runway. Fitzpatrick emerged as the Best Makeup Artist Finalist at the 2016 Canadian Contessa Awards.

Michael Astalos
Before he was a lighting specialist, Michael Astalos was a professional photographer. After marrying a professional make-up artist in 1990, he built the first make-up station incorporating both daylight and tungsten lamps in a portable system that would become the industry standard for film, TV and commercials; he supplies these through Cases for Visual Arts. In 2014, he introduced a new line of LED lights, and his latest company, The Makeup Light, was born.

Siân Richards is a single mother of two and an award-winning make-up artist. Richards has worked in every avenue that make-up demands, from editorial to special effects. She won The People’s Critics Choice Award for transforming Halle Berry in
Cloud Atlas and was Emmy and 706 Guild Award nominated for her transformation of Queen Latifah into ’30s blues icon Bessie Smith. Richards was the personal make-up artist to Chadwick Boseman on
Black Panther,
Avengers: Infinity War and others. She wrapped Avengers 4 (Untitled) this year. She also has a successful brand called Siân Richards London.
Stephanie Abbat
A native of Toronto, Stephanie Abbat works primarily in film and television. Known for her special effects prowess and creativity in developing characters, she was the 2015 runner up in Battle of Brushes. A graduate of Blanche Macdonald Centre in Vancouver, her love of make-up artistry was born early in her family’s Halloween/party store business. Abbat loves to explore the intersection of beauty/editorial and special effects, to create bold unexpected looks.
