Have you ever wondered how lighting works in the world of make-up? Have you ever dreamed of working in the movies, TV or film? Are you worried that you may look foolish on a production set because your work isn’t photographing correctly? Lighting is the key element that can define our work. If you answered yes, this class is for you!

Welcome to the Lighting for Makeup Artists101© workshop, by two-time Emmy-nominated make-up artist Sara Seidman Vance. Lighting for Makeup Artists101© is designed for anyone who wants to understand the core values behind lighting technology both on set and on location.

In this class you will learn:

-How correct lighting works to filter and create the perfect balance in make-up.

-How to be able to determine how your make-up will appear under different lighting circumstances.

-How to be able to interact with the Director of Photography or Lighting Designer with confidence.

-All students are requested kindly to arrive without wearing any make-up products, as you will all be working on each other. All students must have basic make-up skills.

Mimi Choi uses beauty make-up and face paint to make her face look chopped, diced and melted.  Say what?  Choi’s surreal creations have turned heads and even made people question what they’re seeing.  Many have assumed her work is Photoshopped. The MUAGRAPHER Experience

Painting With Light: Illuminating the Skin When the Director of Photography Doesn’t!

How often have you gone on set having created an amazing make-up only to find that the director of photography has lit the room and not the actor? For Siân Richards, it has happened a million times. So much so that she now often paints light into the skin to counterpoint it. This is a vital skill to have and in particular when you are working with darker skin tones. 

For those of you who know Richard’s work, you know that she is well versed in creating make-ups on darker skin tones and in the wake of having situations like this to solve. She wants to enable you to elevate your artistry and cross over into the light!
